WHAT DO FEMINIST GERMANISTS WANT (OR NEED)?

Thursday evening, Oct. 18

What directions should WiG be going in? We would like to receive papers from specifically lesbian gay, Jewish and other perspectives reflecting the diversity of WiG's constituency. After a panel presentation, panelists (and others) will act as coordinators for small group discussion of all the issues raised. They will continue to be available at mealtimes on Friday and Saturday to welcome new arrivals and all others who wish to continue the discussion. We hope to use this structure to help bring out the issues which divide us and which unite us.

Send proposals or inquiries to both

PRACTICAL FEMINIST STRATEGIES FOR TEACHING INTERMEDIATE GERMAN

Friday afternoon, Oct. 19

This session will focus on the teaching of German language and/or literature (second and third year), and the teaching of German film as a culture course.

Suggested topics: feminist citiques of well-known teaching methods (e.g., the Dartmouth method, grammar-integrated approach, communicative approach, etc.); how to select course topics, materials, questions or organization; how to teach about women's roles in German literature, life, film, and/or culture production; the relationship between text and context--how to deal with "inapropriate" materials or students, how strategies can be adjusted to fit conditions.

Deadline
for receipt of 2-page abstract: May 1, 1984. Send on copy to each
